Light switch cover
The light switch is the underdog of the room. Gets used all the time but never really makes a statement. I wanted to decorate my little girls light switch. I did a little looking around on the web and saw someone use contact paper to cover their light switch to update a room. I decided to use scrapbook paper instead, more options of patterns. Side note: I have old school single light switches. I have not done this with the new updated ones yet, so this tutorial is using a single light switch.
Directions
- Light switch (make sure to save the screws)
- Scrapbook paper
- Embellishments (glitter, gems, buttons anything you want)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Hot glue gun
- Glue
Measure out our paper with the light switch in the middle you need to make sure you leave about a ¼ inch border to go around. Don’t forget to mark the holes
I also cut at an angle on the corners so I can easily fold my edges down and glue with a hot glue gun.
Keep gluing till all sides are flat
Poke out the screw holes and cut out the switch opening
Now if you like the pattern you have chosen you are done attach back on wall. If not you can add fancy embellishments. You can use different kinds of paper too. I suggest you make a template so you can attach other paper on it. I had some left over decorations from my baby shower and since this is going in my nursery I went with her room theme.
Enjoy! This craft has endless options. Below are some I have done with magazine clippings and comic book pages. I also have done electrical outlets, and yes it is upside down.
